Every morning, well before sunrise while most of us are still fast asleep, our bakers are hard at work here at Spinnakers. From hand crafted kaiser buns for our burgers, to fruit filled, vegan muffins- every baked good served in our restaurant is hand crafted in house.
Spinnakers has recently welcomed Colin Nontell as Head Baker. Colin brings with him 16 years of experience baking in Germany and Western Canada. He became certified as a Red Seal Baker in Neckarsulm, Germany and is a valued addition to the team.
With Colin’s recommendation, we have made the switch to using all organic flours from True Grain located in Cowichan Bay. This includes our red fife and whole grain spelt. Additionally, we are introducing gluten friendly products. While we cannot guarantee a 100% gluten free environment due to the fact that we are primarily a brewery, every day gluten friendly creations are available for purchase at our front desk provisions store. Pick up one of our multi grain breads or vegan bran muffins for a delicious, gluten friendly option!
This year’s fall season has provided ample inspiration for new, mouthwatering baked goods. There are whispers of the return of our famous cinnamon buns, not to mention golden, salted pretzels and maybe even mini pizzas! We always welcome feedback and suggestions so please don’t hesitate to let us know what’s working and what’s not.
